The Victorian Dragon Boat Association Inc. (which also trades as Dragon Boats Victoria) welcomes you to its website. We are the governing body for the fantastic sport known as Dragon Boat Racing in Victoria.
We run regular racing events, and have many diverse teams paddling in Victoria. Dragon boating is a sport that captivates its participants. It is also an event that showcases the preparedness of Australians to accept and enjoy a cultural activity that has its roots in ancient China and celebrates the many unique aspects of Chinese culture. Due to the nature of a team involving a large amount of people (22+!) its a sport with that involves many people of all ages and backgrounds.
Our premier event is the Melbourne International Dragon Boat Festival, an event we have held annually since 1985, which this year sees a return to the fantastic Yarra River.
In addition to competing in the Festival and various other events, teams train regularly on Melbourne’s magnificent waterways, enjoying some of Melbourne’s most spectacular views as they train.

In response to an invitation from the Korean International Dragon Boat Association to the Busan International Dragon Boat Regatta, Jonathan and Jenny Mayne have assembled a team from Tasmania, WA, Qld and DBV to compete in the small Dragon Boat section. The team leave on 6 September and will meet at Hong Kong Airport for the final leg of the journey to Korea. The hosts have provided a bus to take the team to Busan
The event takes place at Sooyoung River & APEC Naru Park in Haeundae Busan, Korea from
It may have been wet, but it was still good! Despite the rain, the Albury Wodonga regatta was still much bigger and better than last year. We had some good close (very!) racing, and enjoyed the teams from the ACT coming down too. Its allways nice to have someone new to race against. We did have our first dead heat of the season. It tested our new finishline system, and the nerves of the finish line judges, but at the end of the day, you do get dead heats, and we got one. Try and find it in the finish line photos in the photo gallery.
