The Victorian Dragon Boat Association Inc. (which also trades as Dragon Boats Victoria) welcomes you to its website. Our premier event is the Melbourne International Dragon Boat Festival, an event we have held annually since 1985.

In addition to competing in the Festival and various other events, teams train regularly on Melbourne’s magnificent waterways, enjoying some of Melbourne’s most spectacular views as they train.

Many of the Victorian based teams also take the opportunity to test themselves at the annual AusDBF National Championships, held annually on rotation around Australia as well as at various interstate and overseas events. Dragon boating is a sport that captivates its participants. It is also an event that showcases the preparedness of Australians to accept and enjoy a cultural activity that has its roots in ancient China and celebrates the many unique aspects of Chinese culture.

Understandably, dragon boat enthusiasts come from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds, united by their desire to enjoy this wonderful sporting and cultural event.

Dragon Boat racing in Victoria is conducted under the auspices of the VDBA and all support activities are administered by the Victorian Dragon Boat Association Inc (and under the name Dragon Boats Victoria).
